I am Riikka and I have the pleasure of being the president of the UN association of Jyväskylä (JyYK) this year. I moved to Jyväskylä last autumn and I am a master student in Development & International Cooperation. As soon as I came here, I took part in the activities of JyYK. The best things about our association are the great members, and the opportunity to work with themes that are important to me. I am really looking forward to the year ahead of us. I’m sure it will be very interesting. I am happy to help with anything regarding JyYK, and new members are always welcome to take part in our activities.
My name is Hanna and I am a second-year Political Science student. This is also my second year as a member of the board. The best part of our association is that I can work with themes that are important to me, like world politics and human rights. I can also meet other people who share my interests. I am sure that this year we will have as much fun as we had last year, and I can truly recommend anyone interested in our association to take part in it!
I am Kaisa and I am the secretary of JyYK’s board. My major is Social and Public Policy, to which I have also combined my earlier studies in the University of Lapland. I am Nico and this is my first year studying Political Science. I come from Oulu, which you can probably also notice from my dialect. In the board my task is, among other things, to be the link between us and our umbrella organization: UN Youth of Finland. As the only male member in our board, I want to encourage men to take part in our association. Everyone is needed to change the world for the better. I am looking forward to the coming year working with great people and advancing the important themes of the UN.
My name is Annina and I am the publicist of our board. I am a third-year Speech Communication student. My minors are French and social sciences, particularly focusing on East-Asia. I am Ulriikka and I am a master student in Journalism. This is my second year as JyYK’s publicist. There are two publicists in our association this year, which gives us more opportunities with our communication. The publicists are in charge of our association’s social media, home page and informing about events. In JyYK I have the possibility to work with issues that are important to me, for example, human rights and international issues. The year 2016 will be awesome, so come to meet us!
I am Laura and I come from Raahe. This is my first year studying Social and Public Policy. As my minor I have also the basic studies in Economics! In the board my job is to manage event planning. This includes organizing events together with other members and overseeing that all the events the board has planned are done. I am especially interested in human rights issues; how we could all get along in this globalizing world and make the agenda2030 goals happen in practice. I am expecting this year to be filled with different events, and I am sure it will be great with our association’s enthusiastic members.
My name is Heidi, and this is my first year as a member of JyYK’s board. My job is to coordinate JyYK’s 10-year anniversary party, which will be held in the autumn 2016. All ideas and wishes regarding the party are very welcome! I am a fourth-year student and my major is Journalism. As a minor I also study Political Science. I can’t wait to see what this year will be like!

My name is Annalotta and I am a second-year Political Science student. In my free time I like to, among other things, travel, have coffee with my friends and do some sports. Part of my heart is captivated by the vineyards of Napa Valley in California. It became my home during my exchange year there, and it is where many of my friends live. This is my first year in the board of JyYK, and I take care of our association’s economy. It is great to be a part of an association that shares my values, and I look forward to this year.
